Doncaster moved back into the League One play-off places with a 2-0 win over relegation-threatened Colchester.
Colchester, who are now two points from safety, had the opportunity to take a first-half lead but striker Chris Porter blasted his penalty wide after being fouled by Reece Wabara.
Rovers, who had lost their last two league matches, broke the deadlock in the 40th minute through Enda Stevens.
Nathan Tyson sealed victory from the penalty spot eight minutes from time.
Doncaster manager Paul Dickov told BBC Radio Sheffield:
"We're pleased. It's a really professional performance to get back on track.
"People may look at Colchester being down there but they beat Bristol City last week and we've seen what Bristol City did to us.
"So getting back on track with a clean sheet was important because we've conceded some poor goals recently.
"It's a thoroughly deserved three points."
