Torquay United manager Chris Hargreaves expects his side to turn around their and reach the final of the FA Trophy.
Ryan Bowman's second-half strike gave the Gulls a lifeline after the first leg at the Racecourse Ground.
"From what could have been a bad situation we're very much in a game where we expect to go on and progress," Hargreaves told BBC Radio Devon.
"We've given our fans something to hang onto for that home leg."
The Gulls were 2-0 down at one point and were second-best for much of the tie.
But Wrexham must go to Plainmoor on Saturday and avoid defeat, with away goals not counting extra towards the final aggregate result.
"It's going to be a different performance, I'll demand that," added Hargreaves.
"One goal in this sort of tie is very little as far as I'm concerned, especially with a home game coming up."
