Swindon's League One automatic promotion hopes were dented with defeat by play-off hopefuls Gillingham.

Cody McDonald back-heeled home Doug Loft's left-wing centre to put the Gills in front at the break.

Jake Hessenthaler doubled the lead 18 seconds into the second half when he glanced in Bradley Dack's centre.

Swindon substitute Ben Gladwin struck a post with a crisp shot before McDonald crowned Gillingham's deserved victory by coolly lobbing Wes Foderingham.

The Robins slip to fourth in League One as a result of their defeat, while Gillingham climb to 12th.
