Striker John Marquis scored his seventh goal in 10 games to earn Gillingham a well-earned point at home to Doncaster Rovers.
Substitute Harry Forrester put the visitors ahead, soon after coming on, with a wind-assisted shot.
Marquis put Gillingham level just before the break after he latched on to Doug Loft's free-kick to nod home.
Forrester came close to notching a winner in the second half but his half-volley was saved by Stuart Nelson.
Gillingham boss Justin Edinburgh told BBC Radio Kent:
"Both teams were trying to play football, but as you can see when people were trying to pass it or run with it, it became a very difficult pitch to play on.
"It hurt last week to lose the game, but today more grit and determination to make sure that didn't happen again to us.
"I think the weather played it's part there, it caught Nelson out slightly - wind assisted, it picked up pace and flew into the back of the net"
