Bury 0-1 Oxford United

Oxford beat 10-man Bury to stretch their unbeaten run to four games.

The promotion-chasing hosts had the better of the game prior to defender Adam El-Abd seeing red for a second bookable offence in the 65th minute.

Visiting keeper Ryan Clarke had earlier saved well from Nicky Adams, Kelvin Etuhu and Danny Rose.

U's striker Danny Hylton saw a penalty saved by Nick Pope after he had been tripped in the area before Callum O'Dowda won it with five minutes to go.

The victory lifted Oxford to 18th in League Two, eight points clear of the relegation places, while Bury slipped to sixth.

Bury manager David Flitcroft told BBC Radio Manchester:

"It would just be nice with modern technology to go in for half an hour and have a calm debate with the assessors.

"I certainly feel and the players do, that there's an injustice gone on today. The Adam El-Abd one, it is a booking - the first one's not, but the second one is.

"But the MacDonald tackle on Danny Mayor, it's potentially a reckless tackle, he's lunged, he's gone down and if that's the way you want to stop Danny Mayor, you should get punished for that and there wasn't a booking for that.

"I've seen the incidents, I go to speak to the referee after 30 minutes and to be honest, it's probably a pointless exercise because it never goes anywhere."
