Colchester United boss Tony Humes does not know if defender Sean Clohessy has a future at the club, after a show of dissent towards the manager.

Clohessy, 31, refused to shake Humes's hand while being substituted against Doncaster last weekend.

He was then dropped for Tuesday's League One loss to Notts County and will not face Rochdale on Saturday.

When asked whether Clohessy had a future at Colchester, Humes told BBC Essex: "I don't know."

BBC Essex sports editor Glenn Speller
"Any player can be frustrated with their performance, but showing dissent to your manager was one step too far for Tony Humes.
"With young impressionable players in the squad, the management needed to nip this in the bud straight away. Given Humes's comments it's difficult to see a way back for Clohessy."

He added: "This football club is about building a team and togetherness. Certain things are acceptable and certain things aren't.

"Getting things right for Saturday is what's important. We have to look at the positive things that are happening at the club.

"We have a lot of impressionable young players that we have to guide. That's not just down to the management, it's down to the players to have the right values."

Clohessy has played 37 times this season for the U's, who are in the relegation zone and two points from safety.
