Dagenham & Redbridge 1-3 Southend United

Barry Corr
Barry Corr scored his 12th goal of the season for Southend

Southend moved three points from the automatic promotion places with a deserved win over Dagenham & Redbridge.

The visitors took the lead when Joe Pigott traded passes with Ben Coker before firing past Liam O'Brien.

Dagenham levelled through Ayo Obileye's header from Billy Bingham's free-kick but Ryan Leonard volleyed in from 35 yards to re-take the lead.

Damian Batt handled in the area and Barry Corr stepped up to convert the resulting penalty to secure the win.

Dagenham and Redbridge boss Wayne Burnett told BBC London 94.9:

"When we started I felt that we had the edged in the first half and then they've got a goal deep in stoppage time - very, very good goal but disappointing on our point.

"I feel that Southend deservedly won the game in the second half, we struggled to get out of our own half and they were the better team.

"When you're only a goal behind you've always got a chance to get back in the game but 3-1 it makes it very very difficult."
