Bristol City boss Steve Cotterill has said Kieran Agard is "one of the best professionals" he has ever worked with after the striker's 10th goal of the season against Yeovil on Tuesday.
The Robins' 3-0 victory moved them 13 points clear at the top of League One.
The 25-year-old, who signed from Rotherham in August, had netted just once in his last 16 appearances prior to his strike against the Glovers.
"His work rate is phenomenal," Cotterill told BBC Radio Bristol.
"He's one of the best professionals I've ever worked with - he's an absolute gem of a lad."
Agard, who netted 22 times as the Millers won promotion to the Championship last season, was out of action for almost a month after picking up an ankle injury in City's home victory over Yeovil on Boxing Day.
"He ended up missing a big chunk of the season," said Cotterill. "I said to him before this game that things have a happy knack of turning around.
"It was quite a bad tackle on him in the first game and he ended up suffering from that for a long time.
"But tonight he ends up leaving his second game against Yeovil a little bit happier than he did the first time."
