Curtis Allen bagged a double as the Glens beat Ballinamallard to maintain their push for a European place.

The strike headed in an early opener at the Oval and Steven Gordon slotted home to make it 2-0 after 30 minutes.

Allen latched on to Jordan Stewart's pass before lobbing keeper Fergal Murphy and Fra McCaffrey added the fourth with a 12-yard strike.

Glentoran stay fifth but move to within four points of a European spot while the Mallards remain in 10th.

It was all so easy for Eddie Patterson's side as they continued their chase for a top-three finish which would guarantee qualification for the Europa League.

Allen put the hosts ahead after just four minutes, supplying the back-post finish after Murphy got a hand to Gordon's effort.

Mallards midfielder John Currie shot straight at Elliott Morris before Marcus Kane set up Gordon to fire home.

McCaffrey saw an initial strike blocked by Stuart Hutchinson and Mark Stafford cleared his second effort off the line.

Stewart created the third goal after 59 minutes, his pass leading to Allen's lob over Murphy from 20 yards.

Allen also had an assist by teeing up McCaffrey to rifle past Murphy and complete the scoring with 20 minutes left.

Ballinamallard remain in the relegation frame - eight points clear of basement boys Institute and five ahead of Warrenpoint Town, who occupy the play-off place,
