Mike Phenix: Macclesfield sign Barnsley striker on loan

Mike Phenix scored six goals in 14 appearances for the Conference side AFC Telford earlier this season

Conference side Macclesfield have signed Barnsley striker Mike Phenix on loan until the end of the season.

The 26-year-old moved to the Tykes for a fee thought to be around £25,000 from AFC Telford, but has only made two substitute appearances so far.

Last season Phenix was out for a month with ulcerative colitis, the same condition which has affected Scotland midfielder Darren Fletcher.

He is available for Macclesfield's game against Nuneaton on Saturday.
