Sunderland: Gus Poyet 'disappointed but proud' after sacking
Gus Poyet says he was "disappointed" by his dismissal from Sunderland but remains "proud" of his achievements and "honoured to have served the club."
The Uruguayan, 46, was sacked by the Premier League club on Monday after a 4-0 defeat by Aston Villa.
The League Managers' Association released a statement on Poyet's behalf on Friday, in which he listed his achievements as the Black Cats manager.
He also thanked chairman Ellis Short, the club staff and players.
