Raith Rovers 2-1 Hibernian

Lewis Vaughan scores for Raith Rovers against Hibernian
Lewis Vaughan's late goal settled the match

Second-place Hibernian lost their points advantage over Rangers after falling to defeat at Raith Rovers, who boosted their own promotion hopes.

Hibs struck the woodwork twice in a dominant first half with David Gray and Dominique Malonga both going close.

Gray hit a post again, but only after Mark Stewart had volleyed Raith Rovers in front.

Fraser Fyvie levelled from a tight angle but Lewis Vaughan scrambled in a winner late in the match.

Rangers' win over Cowdenbeath moves them on to 55 points with Hibs, who have a superior goal difference in the Scottish Championship.

But the Ibrox club have a game in hand over Alan Stubbs' side.

The side finishing second will enter the play-offs at the semi-final stage while the teams in third and fourth will play off to reach that stage.

The Edinburgh side did mount late pressure after falling behind a second time but could not get another equaliser, with striker Farid El Alagui making his first appearance since August as a substitute.

Raith are now five points behind fourth-place Queen of the South in the race for the final play-off place.
