Tom Allan scored his first professional goal to earn a draw for Gateshead - but a point did little for them or their relegation-threatened hosts.
Allan equalised from inside the area by heading in Matty Pattison's cross.
Dartford had taken an early lead with Jordan Chiedozie's first goal for the club - a long-range curling shot.
Pattison almost created a winner for Gateshead just after half-time but Jon Shaw headed his free-kick over the bar before Chiedozie missed a late chance.
The result means the Darts are 10 points adrift of safety with five games remaining while Gateshead are seven points away from the play-off places.
