Alfreton Town have released striker Paul Clayton from his contract, allowing him to sign a two-year deal at Conference North side Harrogate Town.
The 30-year-old has been on loan with Harrogate since December and was out of contract at the end of the season.
Clayton, the fifth-highest appearance maker in Alfreton's history, scored 114 goals in 311 games for the club.
"It was never going to be an easy decision but this is too good an opportunity to pass up," said Clayton.
Chairman Wayne Bradley added: "What Harrogate have offered Paul is exceptional and we have let him go early, without a fee, for the good of the lad.
"We have also let him go early as a way of thanking him for his sterling efforts for Alfreton Town over the past eight seasons."
