Torquay United have signed Charlton Athletic winger Kadell Daniel on loan until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old could join the club on a permanent basis in the summer when his contract at The Valley runs out.
"There's no point in us getting an aimless loan in, it's got to be with a view to something really," manager Chris Hargreaves told BBC Sport.
Daniel, who is a former Crystal Palace trainee, has yet to make his first-team appearance in senior football.
His signing came after Jordan Chapell left on loan to join Conference rivals Grimsby and he could make his debut for Torquay in the trip to Southport on Saturday.
"He's an extremely exciting player, he's someone who wants to get his career going and we hope we're the platform for him to do that," Hargreaves added.
