Leyton Orient manager Fabio Liverani believes if his side reach a total of 53 points they will avoid relegation from League One.
The O's are currently 22nd in the table on 39 points, three points from safety.
"For us, it is nine games, with 14 points it is possible to stay up," the 38-year-old Italian told BBC London 94.9.
"It is open and we have got a game in hand as well. If we get half the points available we are safe."
The O's have won just one of their last five games and lost 1-0 to fellow strugglers Crawley Town last weekend.
However the former Lazio and Fiorentina midfielder, who won three international caps, is remaining optimistic.
The five sides above the east London club - up to Coventry in 17th place - are all within four points of the O's.
"It is all in our hands," Liverani added.
"Unfortunately, it is a very balanced league and I think it will be decided at the very end of the season."
