AFC Wimbledon 2-2 Northampton Town

James Gray (Northampton Town)
James Gray scored twice in the space of three minutes to rescue a point for the Cobblers at Kingsmeadow

Northampton Town kept their League Two play-off hopes alive as they came from two goals down to draw at Wimbledon.

After a goalless first half, the Dons scored twice in as many minutes through Sean Rigg's unmarked header followed by Jake Reeves' powerful shot into the bottom left-hand corner of the net.

But Northampton got a lifeline, Ricky Holmes cutting back from the byline for James Gray to net from close range.

Gray then headed in Brendan Maloney's free-kick just three minutes later.

The Cobblers drop a place to 11th, still within four points of seventh-placed Plymouth, and still three points ahead of 12th-placed Wimbledon.

AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley told BBC London 94.9:

"It's disappointing to go 2-0 up and then come away with 2-2. The first-half was dreadful. It was awful. They were better than us at being awful in the first half.

"I don't think it was a tactical, I don't think it was people sitting back on a lead. It was just poor defending. It's just individuals not doing their jobs properly.

"I'm annoyed because we didn't mark properly from a set-piece. I'm annoyed because too many crosses came from the left-hand side and we didn't mark in the box when the cross did come in. And that's not good enough."
