Plymouth Argyle 1-1 Burton Albion

Carl McHugh
Carl McHugh's header was his first league goal for Plymouth since joining from Bradford last summer

Burton saw their lead at the top of League Two cut to a point after conceding a late equaliser at play-off chasing Plymouth Argyle.

Liverpool loanee Kevin Stewart gave Burton the lead on his debut as his shot took a deflection off Carl McHugh and lobbed over Luke McCormick.

Argyle top scorer Rueben Reid came close to equalising, but his powerful shot hit the post soon after half-time.

But McHugh headed in Bobby Reid's late corner to seal a draw.

John Sheridan's Argyle side remain in the final play-off spot and now have a two-point buffer to eighth-placed Stevenage, who drew 2-2 at home to Tranmere.

Burton Albion manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink told BBC Radio Derby:

"I thought there was not a lot in the game. I thought it was two organised sides who were trying to make chances and were good going forward but also with good defences.

"I think we defended really well. Every time we got in trouble it was because of our own mistakes.

"When you score and they have no chances and then a goal goes in like that - for me it's a foul; it's a push in Lucas's [Akins] back with two arms. But we have to move on."
