Match ends, Inverness CT 1, Dundee 1.
Inverness Caledonian Thistle fought back to claim a point against Dundee in the Scottish Premiership.
Aaron Doran had a few efforts for the hosts in the first half, two of which were saved with the other going wide.
Dundee took the lead against the run of play early in the second half, David Clarkson driving home from 15 yards.
But Graeme Shinnie quickly replied for Caley Thistle, thundering a shot past Scott Bain, and there was no further scoring in the Highlands.
The hosts came into the game unbeaten in their previous nine matches against Dundee and while that record extended to 10 they collected just one point in their quest for European football.
However, the third-place side extend their advantage over Dundee United to eight points, with the Tangerines having lost at home to Ross County.
Caley Thistle's early chances came the way of Greg Tansey. First, an early free-kick was eventually held by Scott Bain the midfielder tested the goalkeeper again after some nimble footwork.
For a side with just one league defeat in their last 10, Dundee started the match tamely, happy to restrict the more industrious home side.
Shinnie, with little in the way of defensive duties required, was a real attacking threat on the left cleverly setting up Doran to hit from 25 yards and force Bain to palm out.
The first half ended without a serious threat being posed by Dundee, Ryan Esson having the easiest of times in the home goal.
But that changed in the second half when Dundee scored with their first shot on target. Mark Stewart and Paul McGowan combined to set up David Clarkson to drill low into the corner.
Caley Thistle responded immediately and levelled through their best performer Shinnie, who reacted quickly inside the box to send the ball across the bows of Bain into the corner.
Both sides were lifted by the goal action and went in search of adding to the scoreline. Doran hit the side net when more than a few inside the ground thought he had scored.
Edward Ofere looked to have sent Caley Thistle ahead when he met Greg Stewart's clever chip but although the striker beat the onrushing Bain, his effort bounced and spun the wrong side of the post.
Dundee substitute Jim McAllister also had a chance for a winner but could not guide his shot on target.
