Northampton Town 0-1 Cambridge United

Harrison Dunk
Harrison Dunk scored Cambridge's fastest goal of the season after 54 seconds

Harrison Dunk earned Cambridge a win at play-off-chasing Northampton.

Struggling Cambridge were quickest out of the blocks and took a first-minute lead when Dunk beat goalkeeper Matt Duke from the edge of the box.

James Gray headed over as Northampton tried to get back on level terms before Nathaniel Mendez-Laing almost doubled the home side's lead.

The Cobblers got close to an equaliser, but Ryan Cresswell headed wide and Brendan Moloney flashed a shot wide.

Northampton Town manager Chris Wilder told BBC Radio Northampton:

Wilder on Northampton v Cambridge

"It was a rubbish start. I stressed over the weekend we couldn't give Cambridge an opportunity to go ahead and that's what we have done. That gave them a massive boost and deflated us.

"There weren't any energy level problems. They were prepared to sit deep. We just couldn't pick the final pass.

"We really fancied this game and it's a big opportunity missed given the results elsewhere."
