Midfielder Grant Ward says his loan move to Coventry from Premier League side Tottenham has helped give him a winning mentality.

Ward, 20, is yet to make a first-team appearance for Spurs but has turned out for their Under-21 side.

"First-team football is a lot different than Under-21s and it's changing now," he told BBC Coventry and Warwickshire.

"Here at Coventry it is less about development and more about winning, so it's good to get that mentality."

Ward previously had a spell on loan with Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire, where he scored twice in 27 games.

Since joining the Sky Blues in March, Ward has made five appearances and is yet to score but came close in the recent home defeat against Leyton Orient.

"I thought I scored, but I hit the post. One of our corners is to whip it into the near post area and it must have caught a bit of bend," he explained.

"We do a lot of free-kicks in training, I have always liked set pieces and it's something I always practice."
