Italian Serie A

Parma 1-0 Juventus

Parma players tackling Juventus' Vidal
Parma's players have not been paid this season

Serie A leaders Juventus suffered a shock defeat to bottom side Parma.

This was just the fifth league win for Parma, who were declared bankrupt last month with debts estimated at nearly 75m euros (£54m).

Juventus were without Gianluigi Buffon, Andrea Pirlo and the league's top scorer Carlos Tevez for the match at the Ennio Tardini stadium.

Argentine midfielder Jose Mauri scored the winner as Juventus suffered only their second league defeat.

The 18-year-old scored with a side-footed shot from the edge of the area in the 60th minute.

Despite the defeat defending champions Juventus are 14 points clear at the top of the league and on course for their fourth successive title.

They play Monaco in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday.

Parma, who lost 7-0 to Juventus earlier in the season, are 10 points from safety in what has been a turbulent campaign.

Their players have not been paid all season, have had to do their own laundry, drive the team bus and go without hot water at the club.

The Italian league has allocated 5m euro (£3.6m) so the club can fulfil their fixtures.

The club - who have changed ownership twice this season - have already been hit with a three-point deduction and been forced to postpone two matches.
