Millwall 3-3 Derby County

Jeff Hendrick
Jeff Hendrick's equaliser means Derby will reach the play-offs if they win their final game of the season

Millwall's hopes of Championship survival hang in the balance as they let a 3-1 lead slip to draw with Derby.

Lee Gregory scored twice, the second a penalty, to put Millwall 2-0 up but Tom Ince's free-kick reduced the deficit.

Gregory's second spot-kick of the afternoon, after Jeff Hendrick's foul, completed the striker's hat-trick.

But Chris Martin scored from the spot after Ince was fouled by Aiden O'Brien and Hendrick's superb volley sealed a point for Derby, who are sixth.

McClaren on Millwall v Derby

Steve McClaren's side will confirm a play-off place if they beat Reading in their final game, while Millwall will be relegated if Rotherham beat the Royals on Tuesday.

If Rotherham fail to pick up three points in midweek, a Millwall win at Wolves on 2 May could be enough to see the Lions safe.

Millwall went in front when Derby goalkeeper Lee Grant sliced a clearance to Gregory, who ran unopposed into the box and fired home.

And Gregory added a second from the spot when Derby defender Richard Keogh handled in the box.

However, on-loan winger Ince ensured Derby halved Millwall's lead just before half-time when he curled home a set-piece.

Hendrick's foul on Nicky Bailey allowed Gregory to complete his treble but, just as Millwall appeared to have their fate in their own hands, Derby fought back.

O'Brien brought down Ince in the box and Scotland striker Martin fired in the resulting penalty, and the Rams took home a point when Ince pulled the ball back to Hendrick, who volleyed into the top corner.

Millwall manager Neil Harris:

"I can't pick the players up at the moment. They will come in on Monday morning and pick themselves up, and we have to sit and wait to see how Rotherham go on Tuesday.

"It's really simple: if Rotherham get the win on Tuesday we're relegated. I won't be watching the game."

Derby County manager Steve McClaren:

"We're making hard work of everything. You expect to score three and four away from home and win games.

"We're not even thinking ahead of next week. We've got a job to do and we need to keep character."
