A first-half goal from Sean O'Connor condemned struggling Derry City to defeat in their EA Sports Cup quarter-final against Shamrock Rovers.
O'Connor curled a left-foot free-kick into the top left-hand corner of the net from 22 yards out after 31 minutes.
Derry goalkeeper Shaun Patton saved with his feet from Ryan Brennan and Brandon Miele in the second half.
For the hosts, Ryan Curran had an attempt blocked after Aaron Barry's effort was cleared off the line.
O'Connor's impressive free-kick provided a rare moment of quality in a mediocre first half, while the second half yielded just a couple of goal-scoring chances.
The Candystripes have now won just one of their last eight games and have failed to score in their last four matches.
Derry face Sligo Rovers in a Premier Division game at the Brandywell on Friday night.
