WSL 2: Oxford United 'playing smarter, says Kayleigh Hines

Midfielder Kayleigh Hines says Oxford United have 'played smarter' to collect as many Women's Super League Two wins in seven games this term as they did in their entire first season last year.

They beat London Bees 2-1 on Sunday to go fifth in the table, having finished next to bottom in 2014.

It was their third win of the campaign and they are unbeaten in three games.

"By managing the game we are not doing anything stupid or playing in areas that we are taking risks," said Hines.

"Looking at last season when we were marginally losing games and when the performances were there, but maybe we didn't finish our chances, we have now eradicated that now and improved."

Home sweet home for Oxford
All three of Oxford's wins have come at home this season, with Les Taylor's side collecting their only point on the road against Reading.

Oxford opened their campaign with a home win over Watford before going on a three-match losing run.

However, they have since recovered to hold high-flying Reading to a 2-2 draw before overcoming Durham and London Bees at home, and they are now just two points short of last season's total of 12.

Katie Stanley netted the second of the U's goals in Sunday's win after Hines opened the scoring with a free-kick.

"There is a good team spirit with us at the moment and we are working hard from first to the last as a whole team," Stanley told BBC Radio Oxford.

"We were more inconsistent with that last year, but we have found our feet more quickly this year and the result are coming in."
