Napoli 3-2 Cesena

Dries Mertens
Mertens created one and scored two as his team defeated Cesena

Napoli remain in contention for a Champions League place after Dries Mertens scored twice in their win over relegated Cesena on Monday.

Gregoire Defrel's left-foot strike put visiting Cesena ahead before Mertens pounced after a shot from Jose Callejon deflected into his path.

Mertens set up Manolo Gabbiadini to make it 2-1 only for Defrel to level before the break.

But Mertens struck the winner from Marek Hamsik's pass before the hour.

The win means Rafa Benitez's team have 63 points in Serie A, three behind third-placed Lazio and four adrift of second-placed Roma.

Finishing second earns a team group stage entry in the Champions League, while the third-placed team joins the competition in the final qualifying round.

Meanwhile, Fiorentina beat relegated Parma 3-0 on Monday with Gonzalo Rodriguez, Alberto Gilardino and Mohamed Salah scoring.
