Southport: Peter Cavanagh & Andrew Wright among four arrivals

Peter Cavanagh began his youth career at Liverpool before playing for Accrington Stanley, Fleetwood and Rochdale

Southport have signed four players, including Altrincham midfielder Peter Cavanagh as player-coach.

Former Liverpool trainee Cavanagh, 33, is joined by fellow midfielder Andrew Wright, 30, who played 92 league games in three seasons with Morecambe.

Former Bolton defender Adam Blakeman, 23, arrives from Ayr United and striker Jamie Allen, 20, joins from Fleetwood.

Meanwhile, Connor McCarthy, Paul Smith, Paul Rutherford , Matty Challoner and Louis Almond have extended their stays.

The Sandgrounders have allowed defender Luke George to leave after failing to agree terms.
