Derry City eased past Leinster Senior League side Edenderry Town 3-0 in the second round of the FAI Cup at Paddy Maloney Park on Sunday.

Josh Daniels had an 18th-minute penalty saved by Eddie McDonald, then Mark Timlin fired just wide of the post.

Timlin sent a curling free-kick over the wall and found the net off the inside of the post in the 39th minute.

Ryan Curran completed a fine move by side-footing in on 52 minutes and Sean Houston slotted home the third on 84.

Daniels squandered that early chance to give Derry the lead from the penalty spot after he had been brought down in the area by goalkeeper McDonald.

Timlin's well executed free-kick gave the Candystripes some reward for their domination and Curran extended the lead from a couple of yards out.

Substitute Houston finished calmly from six yards after meeting Timlin's cross with six minutes left.

Peter Hutton's side return to Premier Division action on Friday night, when they host St Patrick's Athletic at the Brandywell.
