Portsmouth have signed winger Kal Naismith from League Two rivals Accrington for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old former Rangers attacker has signed a three-year contract at Fratton Park.

"I'm delighted to have signed for Portsmouth, a massive club with a great history," Naismith wrote on Twitter.external-link

"I have to say a massive thank you to Accrington, firstly for giving me my chance in England and being there for me through a very hard time."

Naismith was given a leave of absence by Stanley manager John Coleman in October after the death of his girlfriend.external-link

He made 39 appearances for Accrington last season, scoring four goals.

Meanwhile, BBC Sheffield understand Portsmouth have made a bid to sign Chesterfield forward Gary Roberts, who has previously played under Pompey boss Paul Cook.
