Nadir Ciftci: Dundee United striker charged by SFA over 'biting'
Dundee United striker Nadir Ciftci has been charged by the Scottish Football Association over an alleged biting incident last month.
The SFA says the 23-year-old "committed an act of excessive misconduct by biting Jim McAlister upon his leg."
Ciftci scored twice as the Tangerines beat their city rivals 3-0 in their final Premiership match of 2014-15.
United previously said they were "fully supportive" of Ciftci and a principal hearing date has been set for 20 July.
The Tannadice club accused Dundee players of "quite severe physical and totally unacceptable verbal provocation" towards their player.
Ciftci, who recently turned down a contract extension that would have tied him to the club beyond 2016, could face a lengthy ban if found guilty of any biting charge.
Luis Suarez received a seven-game suspension for his first biting offence, on PSV Eindhoven midfielder Otman Bakkal, during his Ajax days.
The Uruguay forward subsequently received a 10-match ban for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic and a four-month suspension for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini.
