Forward James Marwood has re-joined National League side Gateshead on a one-year deal, after leaving Forest Green Rovers by "mutual agreement".
Marwood, 25, scored 15 goals in 114 matches for Gateshead across four seasons before moving to St Mirren in June 2014.
He left the Buddies having made only 15 appearances to join Rovers in January and played 16 games.
"It's a huge weight off my shoulders," Marwood told BBC Newcastle.
"I spoke to Aidy [Pennock, Forest Green manager] and am ever grateful he's allowed it. He understood I wasn't happy down there.
"If you're happy off the field, you're more or less happy on it and play well. It wasn't clicking and he's allowed me to come back home where I belong."
