Mauritania booked their place in the next round of the 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers with a 2-0 victory over Sierra Leone in Nouakchott in the second leg of their preliminary round match.
Two first half strikes in two minutes by Mohamed Yali and Boubacar Beyguili helped Mauritania complete a 4-1 aggregate win, having won the first leg 2-1 at the same venue six days earlier.
It means Sierra Leone are out of the tournament designed for locally based players.
Mauritania have earned a spot in the final round of the Zone West A qualifiers of the championship which will be held from 16 January to 7 February in Rwanda next year.
The Leone Stars chose to host their home leg in Nouakchott because Sierra Leone are unable to host international games due to the ebola outbreak in the country.
Mauritania, hoping for a second appearance at the CHAN finals, will next face the winner of the Mali-Guinea Bissau fixture.
