Ivory Coast striker Giovanni Sio has signed a three-year deal with Rennes, the French Ligue 1 club announced on Monday.
The 26-year-old joins from the Swiss champions FC Basel, although he spent the second half of last season on loan in France with Bastia.
Sio, who was born in France, started out at Rennes' local rivals Nantes.
He also had spells in Spain and Germany before moving to Basel.
The player told Rennes' website he wants to "improve" during his time there, describing the club as "competitive."
He is Rennes' third summer signing after the arrivals of Lens defender Ludovic Baal and former Aston Villa midfielder Yacouba Sylla, who had been playing in Turkey with Kayseri Erciyesspor.
Sio represented the Ivory Coast at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
