West Ham defender Aaron Cresswell has signed a new five-year contract.

The left-back, who moved to Upton Park from Ipswich in 2014, was the Hammers' player of the year as they finished 12th in the Premier League last season.

The 25-year-old's new deal has the option for a further two-year extension when it expires in 2020.

"It's exciting times for me to pen a new deal at West Ham," he said. "Hopefully a few more faces will come in and we'll have a good year."

The London club have already signed France international midfielder Dimitri Payet from Marseille, Spanish midfielder Pedro Obiang and Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Darren Randolph.

Cresswell began his career in Liverpool's youth set-up before making his professional debut in League One with Tranmere in 2008. He moved to Ipswich in 2011.
