Wrexham have signed James Gray after the striker was released by Accrington Stanley.

The 23-year-old's capture comes just hours after last season's top scorer, Louis Moult, completed his move to Scottish side Motherwell.

Northern Ireland Under-21 player Gray scored five goals at Stanley last season, with a further three coming during a loan spell at Northampton.

Gray is the son of ex-Sunderland, Luton and Northern Ireland striker Phil.

The striker, who joined Accrington in 2012, was called into the senior Northern Ireland squad in May 2014 for friendlies against Uruguay and Chile but is still awaiting his first cap.

Accrington manager John Coleman wished Gray well with his future career: "I could have made him sit around and try to demand a huge fee for him.

"But I don't think that would have been fair on the player to be honest. He's done nothing wrong, he's served the club really well and I wish him all the best"
