Plymouth Argyle: Derek Adams expects his players in good shape
Derek Adams has said he expects his Plymouth Argyle players to be in "very good shape" when they return for pre-season training next week.
The squad begin preparations for the 2015-16 campaign on Monday and will play their first friendly on 14 July.
"I expect them to be in very good shape because we'll start pre-season the way we're going to start the season," Adams told BBC Radio Devon.
"If they're not in excellent shape then they've got a wee problem."
The former Ross County boss has said he wants the majority of his squad sorted for the upcoming League Two campaign in time for pre-season training.
Plymouth Argyle's pre-season fixtures
14 July - Elburton Villa (away)
18 July - Bideford (away)
22 July - Tavistock (away)
23 July - Bath City (away)
26 July - Exmouth Town (away)
28 July - Torquay United (away)
29 July - Truro City (away)
3 August - Saltash United (away)
"We have fitness testing on Monday morning and track work in the afternoon, then we're into a wee bit of ball work on Tuesday and then back to track so it's going to be hard work for them," Adams added.
"If they're not in good shape they'll be lagging behind and when they lag behind it becomes very difficult for them."
Plymouth's pre-season programme currently includes eight warm-up games, though all are away from Home Park against lower league opposition.
"We're still to add some games to that - I think they're working behind the scenes to organise the additional games that are needed," Adams said.
"They have been dealing with certain clubs and it would obviously be nice to get a home fixture before the start of the season.
