Portsmouth manager Paul Cook says his revamped squad needs more time to gel ahead of the new League Two campaign.
Cook took over at the League Two club following his departure from Chesterfield at the end of last season.
Nine new players have already arrived at Fratton Park since and six trialists played during a 1-1 draw against Havant & Waterlooville on Saturday.
"Good teams have balance. Going into the season, we'll see cracks in our balance," he told BBC Radio Solent.
"I know that and the supporters know that.
"What we have got to make sure is as we go along, we're repairing those cracks to make ourselves stronger and stronger.
"I'd like to see one or two more challenging games before the end of pre-season to test our balance and our recovery."
