Striker Ashley Yeoman has signed a new six-month deal at Torquay United.
The 23-year-old was not initially offered a contract extension by ex-boss Chris Hargreaves, but he will now stay at the club until at least January.
He has scored nine goals in two pre-season games against lower league opposition, as he remained at Torquay on trial under new manager Paul Cox.
"It's time for him to step up to the plate and really kick-on with us," said director of football Dean Edwards.
"We are pleased to get this deal done. It's good for all concerned and I know that Ash is determined to show that he's got goals and matches in him."
The Devon-born forward made 29 appearances for the Gulls last season, scoring two goals.
