Barrow's signing of former Walsall forward Ashley Grimes shows ambition, says manager Darren Edmondson.
Grimes, 28, signed a two-year deal with the National League side, who won last season's Conference North title.
The ex-Millwall, Rochdale and Bury player left the Saddlers in May after one goal in 33 games last term.
"Instead of players at the end [of their career], we're going for people approaching the brink of their peak," Edmondson told BBC Radio Cumbria.
"Andy Cook is looking fitter and sharper than ever, Jason Walker has come back in tremendous condition and we can add Ashley to that now.
"We've got three strikers who are hungry, keen, fit and ready for the season."
