Ayr United 2-0 Brechin City

Ayr United defender Gerry McLauchlan helped knock former club Brechin City out of the Scottish League Cup at the first hurdle at Somerset Park.

The summer signing from the visitors opened the scoring when he struck a low shot from 12 yards.

Alan Trouten, another capture from Brechin, fired wide and Michael Donald also failed to hit the target.

Paddy Boyle firing into the top corner after 64 minutes as Brechin suffered a second straight cup tie loss.
