Andy Cook scored twice in the first half to give Barrow a narrow victory over Dover in the National League.
Promoted from the Conference North last season, it did not start too well for the home side after going behind to Nicky Deverdics's smart finish.
But Cook levelled just six minutes later, calmly side-footing into the net after running through on goal.
And he found the winner on 34 minutes with a neat first-time strike following Danny Pilkington's cross.
