Tranmere Rovers have signed goalkeeper Iain Turner on a one-year contract following his departure from Sheffield United at the end of the past season.
Turner, 31, made 13 appearances for the Blades in all competitions following his move from Barnsley last August.
He spent eight years at nearby Everton between 2003 and 2011, playing six first-team games in addition to numerous loan spells.
"He's coming in as cover for Scott Davies," boss Gary Brabin said.
He told the club website: "But, at the same time, we know he'll be ready if and when he is called upon."
