Rangers hero Sammy Cox dies at the age of 91

Rangers hero Sammy Cox has died after a short illness at the age of 91.

Cox made 370 appearances for the Ibrox side, winning three league titles, three Scottish Cups and one League Cup.

The 24-times capped defender started out as an amateur at Queen's Park, Third Lanark and Dundee before turning professional with Rangers in May 1946.

He was part of the treble winning side in 1948-49, and the hall of fame member is regarded as the one of the greatest players in the club's history.
