Scunthorpe United 2-0 Crewe Alexandra

Striker Paddy Madden scored a goal in each half to help Scunthorpe beat Crewe and give them their first win of the season.

Madden gave the Iron the lead within 10 minutes when he rose high to head home a right-wing cross from Tom Hopper.

Crewe searched for an equaliser and came close when Billy Bingham had a shot deflected just over the bar.

But Madden popped up again to drill a low shot into the far corner of the net to seal victory.

Scunthorpe United boss Mark Robins told BBC Radio Humberside:

"I'm delighted we've got a win. We've scored two goals, we've got a clean sheet, we've missed an unbelievable amount of chances which could have seen the game off and give ourselves a really healthy victory.

"I was pleased that we managed to get the win for the supporters."
