Yeovil Town 0-1 Bristol Rovers

Bristol Rovers beat 10-man Yeovil in a fiercely-contested West Country derby thanks to Ellis Harrison's late winner.

The win is Rovers' first since their promotion back to the Football League.

Yeovil's Matty Dolan, who had earlier forced a good save from Aaron Chapman, was sent off in the second half for a second bookable offence.

The visitors had the best chances and finally broke the deadlock with two minutes remaining when Harrison powered home his second goal in as many games.

Bristol Rovers boss Darrell Clarke told BBC Radio Bristol:

"Delighted with the performance in general to be honest I thought first half we were pretty dominant, second half took us a little longer to get going.

"Certainly their keeper has shown a man of the match display, how he's pulled one out of the top corner second half I don't know.

"But we kept going we kept probing we changed things around a little bit looking for that right answer to pick up the points.

"Obviously when their lad gets sent of it makes it easier to push more men forward and when we did that we had a right go from the off."

Yeovil manager Paul Sturrock told BBC Radio Bristol:

"Firstly I think our goalkeeper got man of the match. I think that paints a picture to the story.

"We're a very inexperienced team at this minute trying to find our feet without our backbone of the team, our striker, somebody to play midfield you know things like that.

"It's not ideal so you know at the end of the day, we've come up against a team that were a promotion team last year a very strong side.

"They've played together for quite a while now and thy know all their jobs and that's something we're going to have to aim for."
