Shrewsbury Town 1-2 Chesterfield

Goals from Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Sam Morsy saw Chesterfield defeat newly-promoted Shrewsbury to claim a first away victory of the season.

Ebanks-Blake, Dan Gardner and Lee Novak all wasted good chances as the visitors dominated the first half.

But the Spireites went ahead soon after the restart, as striker Ebanks-Blake curled home from the edge of the box.

Morsy coolly fired home a second from 15 yards, meaning Mat Sadler's 25-yard strike for Shrewsbury came too late.

Shrewsbury manager Micky Mellon told BBC Radio Shropshire: "I never saw that result coming, but I have to take my share of the responsibility because I pick the team and the performance wasn't good enough.

"I will look at my decision making and I wonder if I should have shaken it up and made some changes, but it was difficult to do that after some of the performances we have had.

"We looked devoid of ideas at times and we lacked the intensity that we have had in recent games. We couldn't get that spark to get us going.

"The positive at half-time was that we were still in the game, but we didn't get going again [in the second half] and they got that early goal that gave them control of the game."
