Tranmere continued their unbeaten start to the new season with a narrow win over pointless Halifax.
Rovers, relegated from the Football League last season, took the lead in the 74th minute when Andy Mangan scored from Liam Ridehalgh's pass.
The visitors had their best spell just before half-time but were unable to find the breakthrough.
Gary Brabin's Rovers sit second having won three of their four games while Halifax are bottom.
