Striker George Bowerman scored twice to help Altrincham seal all three points against Grimsby Town in the National League.
The Robins took an early lead when Bowerman pounced following a goalmouth scramble to fire the ball home.
Grimsby restored parity when Omar Bogle scored in his third consecutive game with a powerful near-post shot.
But Bowerman grabbed his second when he beat the Grimsby back line to coolly poke the ball home from close range.
Grimsby Town manager Paul Hurst told BBC Radio Humberside:

"I think we've let ourselves down a little bit tonight.
"We showed that we were capable of being the better team. I think when we watch it back we will realise we gave them the game with a mistake and a very dubious first goal.
"There's been some harsh words in the dressing room afterwards."
