Colchester United 2-2 Scunthorpe United

George Elokobi headed a late equaliser as Colchester came from two goals down to rescue a point against Scunthorpe.

Scunthorpe raced into a lead when Dutch forward Kevin van Veen smashed a 25-yard free-kick into the bottom corner.

Irish striker Paddy Madden doubled the advantage with a composed finish before Colchester's George Moncur slotted in from 10 yards to give the hosts hope.

And Colchester - who are yet to win this season - eventually levelled through Elokobi's downward header.

Scunthorpe United Mark Robins told BBC Radio Humberside:

Robins on Colchester v Scunthorpe

"Mixed feelings, I think we almost did enough to win the game but we didn't defend a set-play and that was the disappointment.

"We've taken two good goals and we've had other opportunities to score and I don't think that we've been carved open at any point and I think they had a decent spell of possession.

"We reacted to that and made one or two changes and I think we got a foothold back in the game and we managed to restrict their chances and opportunities.

"We can improve, we will improve, but an away point is fine as long as we go and press home that advantage when we play at home next."
