Grimsby Town 0-2 Macclesfield Town

Kristian Dennis scored twice to seal victory for Macclesfield at Grimsby in the National League.

Dennis tapped in from close range in first-half stoppage time to give the travelling side the lead.

He made it 2-0 in the 68th minute, curling the ball into the corner of the net delightfully from outside the box.

Nathan Arnold had a chance to get the Mariners back in it, but he fizzed over from close range as the Silkmen move from 21st up to 16th in the table.

Grimsby Town manager Paul Hurst talking to BBC Radio Humberside:

"Well it's a defeat at home which you particularly don't want. It's frustrating on one hand in respect that I thought we started the game well, we're on top but the goal at half-time changes things, but we still had 45 minutes for us to try and put that right.

"Start of the second-half we were ok but the second goal makes it extremely difficult. It's a great finish from the lad to be fair to him. After that we huffed and puffed but still had chances really. I think we missed a lot of chances today.

"It's very easy to think new players is the answer. I've still got belief in that group of players and some people might think that that's misguided, but a lot of them are still good players."
